NHTSA Probes into the Fire Accidents in Cruze and Wranglers

Due to the engine fire reports faced in 2010 Jeep Wrangler and 2011 Chevy Cruze units, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is presently probing into both these cases individually.

The government agency received a total of 8 complaints in the case of Wrangler models and 2 in the case of Cruze sedans.

In few of these fire accident cases, owners have stated that their vehicles got destroyed completely. Two of the Cruze sedans that caught fire were being driven at the time of the accident.

In the same manner, all the 7 Wranglers also had their engines running when the incident took place. One of the owners has also stated that he could see a burning liquid was gushing on to the ground, which could not be doused with water.

Earlier in 2010 also such cases were reported with Wrangler vehicles wherein the auto transmission fluid got overheated and expelled on hot surfaces, which resulted in fires. The present situation reminds of the 2010 story.

At present, Chrysler and General Motors are cooperating with the investigations that are being conducted by NHTSA. The results are still awaited and we are expecting a recall to be conducted at the earliest to evade any further problems.
